Merriam Webster defines a Gap Year as “a one-year hiatus from academic studies to allow for nonacademic activities“.
Many people are now extending this concept to other stages of their lives. Some are fortunate and financially secure enough to take several months and travel the world. For others, it may be spending a year finding time for exploration and quiet reflection in your own neighborhood. Or anywhere in between. The important thing is continuing to find meaning in life through a better understanding of the surrounding world.
